The publication procedure of the journal "Family Upbringing" with the review procedure

“Family Upbringing” periodical publishes only previously unpublished academic articles, that is original research results (both carried out with quantitative and qualitative methodology) as well as meta-analyses. The periodical accepts articles covering the topic of family from the perspective of various academic disciplines. The common ground of the published papers is the historical and contemporary context of the widely understood family upbringing.

 

The periodical does not publish reviews nor reports, which are not academic (research) articles.

 

According to the guideline of the Polish Ministry of Education and Science publishing an article in the “Family Upbringing” periodical is awarded with 40 points (position 31263 of the official list of academic periodicals and reviewed conference materials: https://www.gov.pl/web/edukacja-i-nauka/nowy-rozszerzony-wykaz-czasopism...).

 

To ensure the highest quality of the articles published in the “Family Upbringing” periodical, as well as to ensure the continuity of the consecutive editions of the periodical, the editorial board has changed the publication procedure, dividing it into two phases: review and publication. The rules of financing have also changed, as currently the periodical is mostly self-financed. Thus, a two-phase fee has been introduced:

- fee for the review of an article: 300 PLN for Polish language articles (100 EUR for English language articles), which covers the costs of the review procedure. This fee does not ensure receiving a positive review. This fee is not returned in the case of a negative review of the article.

- fee for the publishing of an article: 1250 PLN for Polish language articles (400 EUR for English language articles). This fee is covered by the Authors of the articles, which have received two positive reviews and are thus qualified for further publication procedure.

 

Articles in the periodical are published in the open access format under the CC-BY-SA licence, which means that every Author has the right to publish their article on the internet under the clause of mentioning the “Family Upbringing” periodical as the place of the original publication

 

To maximise the academic impact of the articles published in the “Family Upbringing” periodical the Editorial Team disseminates the articles in the Repository of the University of Wrocław, Digital Library of the University of Wrocław, in the academic periodicals databases: DOAJ, Index Copernicus, POLindex, CEEOL, BazHum, CEJSH, CEON, ARIANTA, EBSCO, ERIH plus, as well as on the portals: Academia Edu, Reasearchgate, and Googlebooks. At the same time, the Editorial Team undertakes steps to introduce the periodical into further databases.

The periodical is affiliated at the Institute of Pedagogy of the Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences of the University of Wrocław (Poland), and the Publisher of the periodical is: EDUsfera. Ewa Jurczyk-Romanowska, NIP 5471830063, REGON 385633764. The Editor in Chief of the periodical is: prof. zw. dr hab. Stefania Walasek. Currently, the hitherto cooperation with the University of Wrocław is being negotiated.

The publication procedure of the journal "Family Upbringing" with the review procedure

 

1st phase – review procedure

 

1. The sending of the paper by the Author to the Publisher to the email address:  wwr@uwr.edu.pl. The date of the sending of the paper is the day in which the Author has sent the complete Work consisting of:
- the proper text of the Work in Polish or English,
- title, abstract, and keywords (in English for papers written in English),
- bibliography (APA standard).

 

2. Signing of the publishing agreement and sending it to the Editorial office. Sending of the agreement can be done two ways:
- traditional mail (address:  “Wychowanie w Rodzinie / Family Upbringing", Instytut Pedagogiki Uwr., ul. Dawida 1, 50-527 Wrocław, Polska)
- e-mail (address: wwr@uwr.edu.pl).

 

3. Registration of the article. The article (prepared according to the editorial guidelines, paid and contracted with the editorial contract) is now registered and anonymized. The anonimized article is now submitted for review.

 

4. Paying the editorial fee:

After making all the necessary editorial corrections suggested by the editor and sending the editorial contract, the Author will be informed by email about the registration of the article. After registration of the article, the Author needs to pay the review fee:

  • for Polish language articles: 300 PLN
  • for English language articles: 100 EUR.

The payment is transferred to the bank account of the Publisher.

 

The review fee initiates the further editorial work on the articles, although it does not guarantee receiving a positive review.

 

  1. Submitting the article for review. Every registered and anonymized paper is reviewed by two independent reviewers (according to the double blind review policy). Receiving two positive reviews is a condition of accepting a paper for further editorial process.
     (double blind review) - reviewers must be independent of the authors, i.e. not affiliated with the same institution, they can not be with each other depending (promoter, co-author, cooperator in the same scientific project etc.).
        Once the paper is reviewed positively, it undergoes editing, including the verification of the references and the language editing of the paper. Receiving two positive reviews conditions the article to undergo further steps of the publication procedure.
  2. Author receives the review. Even one negative review ends the publishing procedure, and the Author is informed by email about the rejection of their paper by the Editors of the periodical. In the case of receiving two positive reviews the article goes into the second phase of the publishing procedure, about which the Author is informed by email. In both cases the Authors receive the anonymized version of the reviews.

 

 

2nd phase – publishing the article

 

 

  1. Paying the publication fee. The author whose article has received two positive reviews is obliged to pay the publication fee:
  • for Polish language articles: 1250 PLN
  • for English language articles: 400 EUR.

The fee is transferred to the ban account of the Publisher.

Paying the publishing fee is the condition of the further work on the acrticle, including the proofreading of the article in Polish or English, preparing the images, graphs etc. for print, typestting of the text, graphic work, preparing the article for digital and print publication, printing of the periodical, and sending author’s copy of the periodical by mail.

 

 

2. Proofreading of the article.  The author whose article has received two positive reviews is obliged is obliged to make all the meritorical corrections siggested by the Reviewers and all technical and linguistic corrections suggested by the Editors during 1 month after receiving these information. Every article undergoes further proofreding:

  • meritoric – checking whether the corrections applied do actually adhere to the reviewer’s remarks (in the anonymized reviews).
  • Editorial – linguistic correctness – the Author is obliged to discuss all linguistic corrections with the Editor.
  • Technical – checking whether the references and bibliography follow the APA standard.

In the case of not making the necessary corrections by the Author during 1 month after receiving the necessary information, the Publisher has the right to end the publication procedure without returning the publishing fee.

 

 

3. Acceptance of the corrected article by the Editor in Chief or the second Editor in Chief of the periodical. The day of the acceptance of the Author’s corrections is considered the day of accepting the article for printing. The articles are published in the order of submission of the fully corrected texts.

 

 

4. Publishing the articles in the periodical „Family Upbringing”. Publication is made in two versions: print (ISSN 2082-9019) which is the original version, and electronic ( ISSN 2300-5866). All articles have the DOI number and are archived in the Repository of the University of Wrocław. The articles are also registered in the following databases:  DOAJ, Index Copernicus, POLindex, CEEOL, BazHum, CEJSH, CEON, ARIANTA, ERIH plus, as well as on the protals: Academia Edu, Reasearchgate, and Googlebooks. According to the CC-BY-SA licence every Author has the right to publish the arcicle published in the periodical on the internet under the condition of mentioning the „Family Upbringing” periodical as the original place of publication.

 

 

5. Sending the Author’s copies of the print periodical. Every author receives a printed copy of the periodical with their article by  mail, sent to the address provided by the Author.

 

6. Conditional clause of ending the publication procedure. In the case of detecting palgiarism, not providing the necessary documents, not paying the necessary fees, not making the necessary corretions, infringement of the rights of third parties – the article will not be published.
